World Steel Tube News MINNEAPOLIS- The Opus Group just announced today that their subsidiary Opus Design Build, L.L.C. has been awarded a contract from Chicago Tube & Iron in Eagan, Minnesota for a 40,000-square-foot warehouse addition. Opus has received final city approval on the industrial property and will break ground in May.
Opus also will make interior renovations and refinish the front entrance of steel servicer’s existing building and add a new canopy to reflect the exterior design of other CTI facilities. CTI has eight other locations, mostly in the Midwest.
World Steel Tube News report “We are grateful to continue our long-standing partnership with Chicago Tube & Iron,” said Jeff Mertens, senior project manager at Opus Design Build, L.L.C. “We’re pleased to be able to deliver a design that allows Chicago Tube & Iron to keep its location with access to Interstate 35E while providing the updates and additional space the company requires for its expanding business.”
The interior renovations will increase handicap accessibility and modernize restrooms and other areas. Showers will be removed and replaced with 40 lockers and a new lighting and air mechanical system will brighten and improve air flow in the break room.
World Steel Tube News report Opus Design Build, L.L.C. will provide construction services and Opus AE Group, L.L.C. will provide the structural and architectural design. MFRA, Inc. will perform civil engineering and landscaping and Hallberg Engineering will provide the mechanical and electrical design services.
Opus will complete the project in fall 2013.
